The Australasian Trade Sales team has a range of extensive business and mining expertise gained from over 55 years of combined experience within blue-chip and other mining industries, both in Australia and worldwide.  

 

MARK THOMPSON

CEO

Mark brings extensive knowledge of and a vast network of business associates in he mining industry. He has been self-employed for over 30 years owning several businesses, such a one contracted to provide hire vehicles and equipment to the top mining companies based in the Hunter Region and east coast of Australia. Prior to owning his own businesses, Mark was employed as a senior consultant in financial planning for GIO and later NAB, managing a large client portfolio.

ROBERT ZULLO

General Manager

Robert brings commercial management and financial experience to our team and assists ATS with general management and business planning. He has many years experience in a variety of management and general management roles, covering business planning and corporate governance, sales and marketing, land use planning and development management, project management, contract negotiation, business risk assessment and management, people management. He has also run his own businesses in management and financing as well as marketing consulting.

DAVID CORK

Carbon Specialist and Technical Advisor

David brings an extensive technical background in coke making, iron making and energy project engineering with BHP Steel and BHP Collieries. After the closure of the Newcastle Steelworks he has been consulting to the coal mining and steelmaking industries in Australia and overseas. He is renown for his high-level of expertise in coking coal and its use within steel making processes. In recent years David has been working with Riversdale Mining to develop some of the world’s largest coking coal mines (e.g. Mozambique) and to sell this coal to established integrated steelworks.

ANDREW CORK

Technical Specialist

Andrew brings his specialist background in coke making operations. Andrew transferred from BHP Research where he worked on coal to the steelworks where he was involved in the operating and maintenance of a 1.1 Mtpa coal handling preparation plant, coke battery and byproducts. After the closure of the Newcastle Steelworks. Andrew worked for Dutch Steelmaker Hoogovens, later Tata Steel, before joining his brother David as a consultant. The consultancy the Cork brothers established works closely with many Australian and international miners, steel mills and other groups.

Lou JELENICH

Iron Ore and Steel Operations Specialist

Lou brings his extensive experience in covering, exploration, production and sale of  iron ore, coal, manganese and gold. He was the Manager Technical Services for BHP Billiton Iron Ore for 12 years before establishing himself as a consultant. His key roles included high-level feasibility studies to add value to products, joint research and development activities with major global steel companies to increase product sales, negotiations with domestic and international customers on pricing and supply parameters plus optimising value for the company by the selection of the most suitable mining plan, process technology and operating parameters for lower cost mining operations. Lou is also a director of Corporate Governance Risk, a Perth based innovative business, specialising in advising companies in the oil and gas, mining, health and financial industries on how to mitigate risks.
